Re: FILM REVIEWS WITH DAVE CLARKE
I saw Valkyrie the other day. I thought it was pretty good. I was aware of the attempt on Hitler's life by Stauffenberg(from an episode of Red Dwarf if I'm honest) but I was unaware of the complexities of it.
I was slightly disappointed by the lack of nordic-looking armoured warrior women though!

My theory is basically... killer robots and spaceships. What's not to like? I apply that rule to any film.
Yes I liked it too, lots of plot holes/inconsistancies that the terminator geeks have picked up on, however I thought it was entertaining action and special effects all the way.

If Bridgette Neilsen's not in it, you've got to think twice. Or so says Flavour Flav.

I saw "The Reader" lately which moved me greatly. Also "Grand Turino" which was a tour de force.
However all I want to see is Transformers 2.
Robots... spaceships... etc etc

Star Trek in IMAX was awesome. And I think Chico's contribution has already been discussed.

this week I have mostly been watching
"Black Snake Moan" liked it.
"Doctor Who" reluctantly
"The Red Riding Trilogy" I was well looking forward to it but got a bit depressed by how professionally northern it is (gas works, rain, corruption, pints etc etc)
"Chocolate" more top Thai chopsocky, this time with added disabled child heroine!
"Waterloo" Rod Steiger at his best.
"Let The Right One In". Best vampire film ever.
"The Wire" started from the beginning. Been trying not to re-watch it for about a year

"Crouching Tiger, Cheeky Monkey" ( I love it! can't see it too often)
"Watchmen" with "Tales of The Black Freighter"

you told me you hate kung fu films!
MY copy of Watchmen BTW! before I got to see it. How nerdy is this for an excuse :
"I want to watch them together before they splice it all together with the missing bits back in"
weirdo

ah but Tarantino is "postmodern". Which I think is french for 'all over the shop'

I'll give that a LOL. Can't decided whether to see this or not, I barely coped with the ear scene in Dogs.

I don't for the same reason I can't do kung-fu films. I can handle Crouching Tiger etc because they have set a scene which is a bit 'fantasy' so I can handle people flying about. But in action films or musicals it just doesn't work for me when people just break into song or start knocking the shit out of each other. Maybe they should combine the two
It's a bit like porn. The action/songs/shagging are the reason and the plot and characters are incidental.
Tarantino is a plagiarist of the highest order. He steals but steals well. Inglorious Bastards is already a film. His is a remake. As was Reservoir dogs.
