I've just seen Wolverine. Prepared to hate it. Loved it.

Watched "A Very Long Engagement" by Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, Amelie etc etc) which made me blub in a manly way. Although if I had to be a picky pants I'd say his jolly cartoony style doesn't sit brilliantly with WWI Shocked
Defo worth watching though. Top notch.

I think I saw the worst film ever. "In The Name Of The King" with Jason (I can do any role as long as it's cockney and kickboxing) Statham and rather preposterously cast with Ray Liotta as an evil wizard (geddouddahere!) and Burt Reynolds as The King. It's as bad as it sounds.

I like a nice romcom I won't lie. "What Women Want", "Serendipity", "That One With Wolverine As A Time Travelling Romantic Victorian Gent" (true), "Frankie and Johnny" (not much com but very rom)... ah I could go on all day Wink

On a totally different tack. I went to see Monsters vs Aliens a couple of weeks ago (you tend to have to do these things when you have children in the frame).

I'm not going to comment on the plot line as such, but the 3D effects WOW! It's been ages since technology made me sit up in amazement. Now I want everything in 3D please! Plus you don't even have to wear those red and green numbers, you now get some slightly ray ban'esque shades to wear so you can look like you're at a techno club (minus scarf).

Did anyone get a chance to see My Bloody Valentine 3D. I would have loved to see it at the Cinema. Only problem was the one in York was only showing in in 2D. Which did not have the same appeal.

I have heard great reports about this movie. Remember when Toy Story came out for the first time. I remember being totally blowen anawy by the graphics in that.

until recently you could smoke in the Ritzy in Brixton and every year "The Custard Club" is the industry only party for the London Cinema staff and they take over a Cinema and dress up and smoke like chimneys Wink

No I'm afraid I must confound you all and agree with Jonny Boy. They are getting better. But only because the idiots at the wheel have cottoned onto the fact that everything is there in the panels. A good graphic novel is a storyboard. I think when Hollywood gets involved with anything it has to fuck with it to justify all the pointless middle management. Also septics in general have to mess with something if they are paying for it, as a sort of "right of ownership" thing. There is a reason these stories are world famous and worth making into a film. Because they are amazing and don't need very much at all adding or taking away.

The Tales of The Black Freighter and Under The Hood DVD is good and will be incorporated into the Watchmen DVD eventually as they appeared sequentially in the novel. Which is nice Wink

Marvel are slow learners (about 3 attempts at The Punisher. All dire) but Wolverine is evidence they are learning to listen to the fans. Not something Stan lee is famous for.

also there is something to be said for a new generation of film maker coming up who revere the original material more than they fear the studio idiots. Zack Snyder and Bryan Singer clearly spent a lot of energy fending off meddling.

    So tongue to you lot.

I have been a big fan of Michael Moore for a long time (until I met him briefly...never meet your heroes) but I do love his films... being a raging commie and anti-septic Wink

They get progressively less interesting (due I think to when you get very famous, you don't get edited well anymore by yourself or anyone around you) but I just watched "sicko" again.

It's easy the best as it is mainly about people and it's quite charming (and funny).

I love the bit where the 9/11 heroes get treated in Cuba for free and when they meet the Cuban firefighters I had a wee tear up there.

    how lovely

    that is all
