It's very time consuming down here. I managed to get roped into setting up a radio station so it's woodwork and wires again as well as some (oh god) lectures.
Yeah :
http://kclradio.co.uk/144/KCL%20RADIO%20IS%20GOING%20LIVE
The dog (who I thpought would freak out) took 5 mins to get comfy. I'm still not happy
Thanks for keeping it going.
The plan is once we have something to shout about (radio, ibiza, weekly in london) I'll send a group email to all the forum members and try get it up again.
I have spotted a trend for people just giving up the internet (or the social networking element) entirely. That I can't do anything about as I am with them haha!
Anyway, the decline of social networking will be covered in section 112.a. subsection x of my lecture.
Dismissed!
NOT YOU Baughn. Detention. Immediately.
I'm seeing this, a lot. I know quite a few people who have ditched Facebook. I'm not sure if they are right, or part of some trend and will come crawling back in time. I'm waiting to see how it plays out.
In my *ahem-hem* lectures I will be presenting the latest academic papers from the U.S generally spearheading a huge social networking backlash... using SCIENCE
Apparently it is shit and makes people stupider! Crikey I had no idea. IT MUST BE TRUE THEN!?
So now thanks to SCIENCE I am no longer a lone idiot in the wilderness crying I TOLD YOU IT WAS SHIT to no-one.
I'll tell everyone on facebook instead.

The cmd started this a long time ago. Even though she doesn't work, she still does our grocery shop online to prevent her going out.

There were 4. Too much to relate but the one at Guys Uni Hospital was emotional cos my dad went there.
In a nutshell I'll quote the student who organised most of it ;
"first one right... you were a bit a babbling nutter. sticking all them bits of bogroll to the digital screen with masking tape was funny... but by the last one no one left and you were like real lecturer."
I am strangely chuffed.
The secret is asking them questions, freaking them out by asking and remembering their names and scaring them. The highlights for me we're one puting their hand up and calling me sir, the other was using the word "nexus". And doing a very credible free-hand Venn diagram that they took pics of (can't say out of spite or respect) .
oh and they had 3 people in their radio society, now they have 70
mission accomoplished!
meaning I got away with it not that i'm ace
oh yeah
"did you go to university?"
no son I welded a metaphorical titanuim snow plough to my fucking face and made things happen
"how could you see what you were doing?"
You're missing the point on both levels there really
"what's it's like working in the media?"
I'll tell you what it's like just if you actually get a job, which is unlikely. It's like the Roman Arena, but your trident is made of toffee and your net is made of doilies and good intentions and instead of fighting lions or other gladiators all the thousands in the stands throw spears at you constantly til their arms get tired. And the spears are made of bronzed human shit, sharpened to a point.
