Yeah...exactly like
But i was also thinking more like Dee Dah, a chap i know who is from sheffield who says coil house in his broad sheff accent and also prenounces school as scoil. Its most strange.

I also love regional vowel sounds. My faves are from 'ull.
'Bred kirk' is a belter.
'Can of kirk' is too.
Ginnel is a great word.

A DJ friend, Tom Piper, was amused at the Amsterdam Dance Conf last week to find that "piper" means "blowjob" in Dutch.
Though not as amused as some of the Dutch he was speaking to, boom, er, tish.

Fish Cake - I do believe the contents of a fish cake change from region to region.
A fish cake to me is mushed up fish and parsley.
This again may need to be in the mundane thread. sorry.

Re: The Great Northernzizms Dictionary
Yeah but you say words that are strictly onomatopoeic . You are the only barely living thing on the planet that says out loud words that exist only in the Beano.
e.g
(and you say "e.g" out loud too!)
"Gasp".
It's an exclamation, an inhalation of breath, you don't actually say the word.
"Erk".
Strictly Beano.
"Gosh"
Has anyone in history actually said this word in everyday conversation?
"Egad"
Turns you immediately into Wile .E. Coyote

Re: The Great Northernzizms Dictionary
In moments when he is gravitationally challenged he actually says ;
"curses"
or
simply "CUNTS" at the top of his lungs.
My fave Rogerism ever is he was a bit startled by something and said ;
"great-webfooted-barking-bollocks!"
..which had me in bits for about a month.
