Re: Weekend Plans. What You Doing?
Think this should go here. My weekend report!!
Good morning all, hope everyone is fit and well on this rainy Wednesday
morning. Some of you like myself will be happy after finally getting
paid and I'm pretty sure everyone is looking forward to the long weekend
off ahead. Well what a weekend. Had some quality highs and some awful
lows. Well here we go:
Last weekend I had my Parents Come up from Kent for the weekend and my
Grandparents come down from Aberdeen. So most of last week was spent
cleaning my flat which is never fun.
After work on Friday I arrived to home to be greeted by the family who
were enjoying glasses of sancerre nibbling on crisps and dip. It was not
long before we headed out for dinner to Loch Fyne. I have eaten here a
couple of times and would recommend a trip if you have not been. In fact
I will add links to the bottom as all restaurants visited over the
weekend were great, bar Sunday night. I had Oysters to start followed by
the sea food selection. This consisted of grilled salmon, bream, king
prawn and scallops. Really enjoyable meal. After which we headed home
for a couple of whiskys before bed.
Saturday we had an early start as my Grandparents wanted to see
Harrogate. After a long period walking in and out of shops which really
did not interest me we went to Bettys. After a fat rascal and a couple
of cups of earl gray we headed back out for another endless slog round
shops that sell nothing of interest. So will move on. It was not long
before we stopped for lunch. My mother kept on yaping on about some
Italian place for lunch which I assumed was Sassos. So I promptly
escorted my father and grandfather there for a beer while we waited for
the ladies. We got a table and ordered a beer. It was at this stage were
my father could not believe my mother had picked here when we were
going out for a big dinner that evening. It was not long before the
ladies arrived and was promptly told we were in the wrong place and
should have been in the Italian sandwich shop up the road. At this stage
it was to late so we enjoyed another fantastic meal. See website below.
After this we headed back for an afternoon kip before dinner.
After waking I quickly got changed for Champagne and more crisps before
heading to J Bakers in York for dinner. The food here is always
fantastic. I had Mock Kedgeree to start followed my 40 day aged scotch
rib steak, crunchy duck egg and mustard. If you get a chance check this
place out. It will not be long before the prices go up and it's
difficult to get a table. I have to say it's great having the family
coming to stay. After dinner I rushed home for a quick change before
grabbing a couple of lagers for the train journey through to Leeds.
Basics here we come.
Train lasted 20 min , which was not enough time to consume all beer.
Grabbed taxi through to Headingly for a spot of pre-basics mischief. At
this stage was beginning to get my wobble on. Eventually landed at
Basics for 12am. enough time to catch the end of Woodalls set. Great
stuff, with some great tunes. After this we I headed out side for some
fresh air and a drink. That is when I saw this friendly chap that I had
not seen for a while. I wobbled up to him and tapped in on the back. Has
he turned he was sporting his usual tash as per norm. I said, "All
right Tim, its Ben how you doing?" Were I got a reply "Good mate" and he
turned back. Maybe not as friendly as I originally thought. Anyways was
not worried so headed back for a spot more wobbling and arm waving.
After another trip out I though I would give Tim another try. So started
the conversation of by giving him credit for the chat board. It was at
this stage the penny dropped. After some good banter, a couple of drinks
and shots at the bar I headed in to see Chris Duckenfield. Great DJ,
have to say always enjoy seeing him. Smashed out some right tunes. After
that Buckley took up the helm and smashed Basics to bit. Buckley does
it for me every time. Amazing music and atmosphere Basics was proper
kicking off. headed up stairs for a bit to sort my chops out before
heading to the train station to head back to York. Forgot to mention my
missus took a taxi from Pateley Bridge to come to Basics. Was a lovely
surprise, but ended up costing £60. Which most of it came out my pocket.
I knew that I would not get home till after 8.30am and my father would
be up watching the grand prix so decided it was wise to act as normal as
possible. Have not had to do this mission in quite a few years. With
full on wobble I staggered into the living room with, The Sunday Times,
The Sunday Telegraph, 1 pint blue milk, pack of Bacon, two calypso's and
a dip dap. Not sure why I bought the dip dab just seemed like a good
idea at the time. After placing all on side cabinet I sat and watched
the racing. While my father informed me that Meow meow is bad and that
it should not be taken. Plus he know the side effects and could tell me
if I had ever taken it before. I promised I hadn't the promptly headed
to bed.
After an hours sleep I was woken my my grandfather who told me I was
being lazy sleeping in and should get up to spend the day walking round
york. That was a load of fucking shite. I got up and realised I had not
put calypsos in freezer so they had melted an leaked. Even more shite
really could not be arsed and wanted to go back to bed. Spent the day
grumbling while mooching about york. Was a low time in my life. Sunday
night we went for a Chinese which I will not report on as I could hardly
eat any of it. Finally made it to be Sunday night. Which was well
received.
I have been knackered for the first half of this week. All in all a
quality weekend!!

These reviews are getting rather good!
There is no way I would have gone to Basics Saturday night of I knew I had the family around on Sunday. I would have had a nervous breakdown as soon as I walked through the door on Sunday morning.

Do you know, it's funny you should mention that.
If i don't find out at what time soon though i'm gonna go mental! It's either an early warm up set comprising of depression and woe, or a slightly later and faster set comprising of depression and woe.
I need to know, and i'm pretty sure you lot would like to be kept in the loop too.

Haha. I know what youre saying.
Anyway, this weekend is all about the depression, no matter where i might be. I'm gonna cheer myself up on Friday by visiting the step daughter. She is very funny indeed. I'll even buy her an easter egg, seeing as they are so cheap these days.
