..and I thought 'director/writer of City of God, Brazilian gangs and the bonkers B.O.P.A military police force... got to be good'.

    Wrong. Absolute rubbish.

I also watched the first series of The Borgias. As with most period pieces these days there has to be shit-loads of rumpo every 5 minutes and is a bit liberal with History but I liked it. Jeremy Irons though... must try harder. Properly phoning in his performance.

Boardwalk Empire. I was shocked as anything by HBO lately is automatically good but I was gutted at how much they are drawing this out. Not usually their style. Not entirely sure about Steve Buscemi as a lead either, he's just too slight a figure and weasel-like to carry it off. Mind you, as per it is getting good by the last disc.

Game of Thrones. Thought I'd hate it. Dungeons and Dragons and Sean Bean. Not two of my favourite things. HBO though. Absolute belter. Doesn't fuck about like most series and by the end of it I was trawling the internet trying to find series 2. Not been made yet. Arse.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood on the BBC is killer. The BBC just have to do Dickens well or they will be in trouble. There is a strong precedent. It won't be as ace as their Martin Chuzzlewitt as the story is one of Dickens' darkest ones but I'm chuffin loving every minute.

I watched the original Alec Guiness BBC Tinker, Tailor Cheeky Monkey thingy just before Xmas so I'm mad keen to look the new one.

    Is it out on DVD?

I don't think so. I watched it illegally.

I saw Tinker Tailor last night and thought it was really good!

But I find the 1970's very comfortable to be in.

It was a golden era of Spy fillums.

Every time that pointy-faced poltroon Benedict Cummerbund was on screen though I felt ill.

My mate said it's really good. But then again, he liked 'Into the Wild'. It was a bad week for selecting from Lovefilm so I thought I'd give it a go.

    I liked Into the Wild.

Is that the one about the clueless kid who dies of exposure/stupidity?

Yes, that's why I didn't like. it. I thought the central character was a twat.

hahaha me too. A twat but a plucky twat. I like it when people do daft stuff in real life. It is a true story I think?

I really identify with wanting to go north until you die.

    I don't mean Glasgow.

It is a true story. I'd been fed some guff about how inspiring his journey was.

He was just a twat who didn't realise how lucky he was (until his luck ran out and he died a horrible death Laughing Laughing Laughing)

You recently went to inhospitable northern parts rather recklessly did you not?
