Funnily enough you made my point for me old chum

If you say three to yourself but pronounce it 'tree' ... BUT say 'tree' in a very posh voice that is actually how you pronounce a soft 'th'. The 'h' is very silent and short in 'Queen's English'. We say Tree as in wood as T-ru-ee which is also 'correct'.

The reason Henry Kelly presented 'Going for Gold' is not because of his very limited charisma, it's cos the United Nations paid for research into universal communication and the Irish were declared the most correct users of English. Ignore the accent, we pronounce nearly every word and syllable and are the easiest for non-english people to understand. we also have on average the largest vocabs. Cos there was no telly or mass media to speak of in Ireland until relatively recently and we have a vocal culture heritage thingy.
