I hear the new Mos Def album is rather good, i'll probably buy it over the weekend so i shall let you know.

I've been enjoying Stacey Pullen - 'DJ Kicks' this past week, but thats far from new. Worth a punt though if you fancy some good old fashioned techno.

    On a not-dance tip -

Sin Fang Bous, Clangour - upbeat poppy stuff, a bit like Arcade Fire only fun. http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=146918

Really like Alpinisms, School of Seven Bells, downtempo beats, ladies singing, quite poppy. http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=159716. Check out the first track iamundernodisguise.

I still think Rufus Wainwright's Want One is genius, but you have to like pianos and, er, sort of cabaret style belting it out.

Fever Ray and/or The Knife is essential.

And I've been listening to a lot of Friendly Fires lately, but then I already had a Talking Heads fixation.

It's very hard to do an album I think. Very few are listenable all the way through IMO. There's always at least one duff filler.

Albums that have no duff tracks I reckon...

    "What's Going On" Marvin Gaye
    "Transformer" Lou Reed
"St Peppers" and "Abbey Road" to be fair.
    "Pet Sounds" Beach Boys
    "Simple Kid" by Simple Kid
"Dark Side of The Moon" I fucking love Pink Floyd and I don't care who knows it
"The Queen Is Dead" The Smiths
"Nighthawks At The Diner" Tom Waites
    "London Calling" The Clash

I could go on but it only shows how rubbish and old I am....

The album's excellent. The only weak track I've heard from them is the current single which ain't on the album thankfully. Brilliant live at Big Chill (I was absolutely rendered at the time so a second opinion might be required).

I have changed my mind about the Mos Def album now, it's not good, it's frickin brilliant.

Get on it ya hip hop headz.

Also, i'm enjoying Stacey Pullens 2020 Vision. Worth a listen.

It's a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Possibly it's not as instant as his other albums. There are some reet tracks on it though. 'We hear you...' with its Q-tip sample is an absolute ripper!

I will be listening to it more this weekend.
