Re: FORUM DRINK UP Part II
Went for a couple of drinks at your new bar on Sunday eve Jon. Very nice indeed, some good music, think they had an aphex twin CD on at the time. the decor has certainly improved from when it was the Courtyard.

I think Jon has yet to grasp the multi thread concept : D

Re: FORUM DRINK UP Part II
finally managed to engage brain enough to perform semi human tasks
the new bar is very good, lots of pointy shoes and hair cuts
im seriously impressed by mr carter's ability to break plastic garden furniture and still sit in it
and i did learn one thing, wookies aren't designed for sun and heat

Tim and Jon were trashing various plastic garden chairs to the point that they only had 2 legs a piece. By stacking them together, you could make a mutant chair that had at least 3 legs that would stand up!

Animals.
Sounds like fun though. And where were these build your own chair sessions happening? I presume not at Jons new bar.

Mr Carter and I are very serious artists and do not topless wrestle each other into shrubberies and wreck/repair deckchairs. I mean.... the very idea is preposterous.

Re: FORUM DRINK UP Part II
The new Bar is great!
but for what it's worth Jon (sorry in advance)
1. Door Nazis. Too London mate. We have them in Leeds and they do the same thing but well... they do it nicer (plus you know them and they know you)
2. Charging to get in a pub!? Not in Leeds mate.
3. Couldn't get served even when I name dropped you (I didn't... but a bar that long and ten mins to get a drink!?)
4. Just a bit too Indie/student.
BUT
I thought it was ace and it really has potential. And Leeds is a tough town to break.
Hope you don't mind. i mentioned the above in good faith and it came from a few of us not just me.

Word to the wise Jon. Leeds has 2 punters. Students and Humans. The two rarely mix.

I'm no expert but I went in and didn't see anyone I know (meaning they were students). So good luck with the summer it's a tricky one.
I think the concept is sound.... it's Just leeds is different it really is.
For example. Private members clubs? None!
Remember Teatro?!

Was that Lee Chapmans place?
They also tried private members thing with Oslo at one point and at the upstairs bit of Oracle, needless to say both attempts failed.

The elusive Jim returns!!
yay!
in fact I have an amusing story about Teatro (or Teatrose as it was pronounced in Leeds) but it involves Carter and my Mum and Dad and his ex and Dave Beer so it is unsuitable for broadcast.
Nation of Shopkeepers is not a private members. It is ace.
Stop it!

I was there!
I think they are referring to the 'attitude' that doesn't work in Leeds, not the direct comparison to failed exclusive venues.
