I just checked a list of best films of the 60s and I've only seen about 8 of them. I was born in '71! I'm a Miramax kid: I like van Sant and Greenaway and Campion and that odd Japanese film about the noodles. Oh, and Eating Raoul. (All of which are now 20 years old...)

Batman - Dark Knight Rises was great.

Bane is one of my favourite baddies.

    The plot is very 'current'.

Didn't really get the Catwoman character.

Go see it, it's one of the best films you'll see this year.

nah the plot is cobbled together from the early 90's. the Siege of Gotham series of comics which I think were called 'No Man's Land' and Knightfall.

I never thought I'd say this about a fillum but I thought it was too long. In the sense that it rambled, not so much in time.

I can watch a fillum all day. Cos I can sit in Cinema seats and find them very comfy Mark. Very Happy

I really felt that if Nolan had gone fully over into the sort of Inception type vibe he was playing with it would have been ace-r. But there is this unwritten law that you can't deviate from the comics. And if they did that fully and used only the best (which are all very dark) bits they would have really got something.

To me films based on comics are just inching and shuffling over decades to basically have the balls to make the films exactly like the novels. The closer they are the better they are.

But this was split between two styles and I thought when it was clearly restricted to using old comics material (having Catwoman in it etc) it was weak. When it was all Nolan (the new gadgets, the great look) it was strongest.

That's all I have to say Embarassed

This isn't just the definitive Batman book it's one of the best graphic novels full stop.

This is the one that they should have made into a film10 years ago and I truly wish one day they will. Doubt it though.

This is my non-comic geek review.

The baddy was ace. Loads of people are complaining that his voice is muffled because of the mask he wears, and they didn't get his over the top delivery. I wouldn't agree, baddies should be over the top and flamboyant.

I didn't think it was too long, I thought it was about right. If they'd rushed the beginning I think the film might have fallen apart.

It had good fight scenes and some ace explosions.

It had a sexy sidekick I love you although I didn't get Catwoman's background. They kept alluding to some dark and distant secret but never delivered.

All in all a good film. One of the best you will see this year. I thought it delivered above Prometheus (only because I think Prometheus promised more).

Ah I've heard of that. I may have to purchase. One of the benefits of being a married gentleman is I don't give a toss anymore and I will bloody well read a comic if I want to thank you Very Happy

I got told off yesterday for following Tim's comic book recommendations. Apparently the CMD is unwilling to sit around the pool with me on holiday if I'm reading comics.

I told her that I'll still be the most intelligent looking person there Laughing

I was only explaining where the plot of the film came from I wasn't recommending them. No Man's Land is about 6 huge books anyway.

I do recommend Frank Miller tho.
