you know what i've never seen that Resident Advisor Dj rating thing before.

    isn't it interesting?

I did want to start a thread about hate ( bit negative? maybe? Wink ). there is so much hate in the music industry i have noticed. some aimed squarely at our timmy. nice to see the people disagree.

thing i noticed is... some voted "bad" but no one voted "below average". in statistical terms that speaks volumes to me.
    Very Happy

    interesting no?

I daren't look. It's everywhere you have to let it go.

I agree with Al that hate is an interesting, if not morbid, subject for a thread. i'm happy to discuss it in an objective way in the spirit of diversity. And if we don't talk about me.

no I've been misunderstood! Tim is rated as "exceptional" (the highest) but it is a readers vote so it is broken down into who voted what...

what i meant about what is interesting is that while about 80% said "exceptional" and some "good" and a few "average" ... no one went for the "below average" but there were some "bad".

this is for all the DJs on that bill with the links not just timbo

Which tells me as an economist that dance music people are more likely to hate something than give it a rational dismissive score. What I mean is say for example you are asked if you like something the thing to say is something like "thank you kindly... however it's not quite my cup of tea" not "get ear-fucked by a dildo off my skip cuntybollocks" if you get me.

    I blame drugs myself.

if i could be arsed i bet if i looked at all the scores of all the DJs i could do a complimentary graph that linked success to hate very easily Wink

have you been to the pub with your serious journalist mates and now you've had to go home cos the missus will kill you if you stay out too late on a school night but you are still a bit squiffy so you are hiding on the computer knocking out the first thing that pops up and overthinking everything while waiting for the booze to wear off so the missus won't get you...

If you think the DJ rating stuff is not that sensible, try RA's regular "which DJs are the best?" threads.

You can always find someone to say "Hawtin!" and someone else to say "Hawtin sucks!". But what's confusing is the way some little n00b from bumfuck idaho will pop up and say "I saw [big DJ X] and they can't even mix" when it's people you know are good.

Claude von Stroke got a real bashing in one thread. But I've seen him play, what, six times, and he's been wicked every time. A gig in Melbourne I saw had rockstar-level appreciation from the audience.

[That's clever: I didn't realise that if someone else manages to sneak in a message before you finish writing yours, the forum asks "do you want to ... change your mind about what you just said?" Smile]

looks like a quality lineup would really like to see funk d'void as listening to slam's essential mix the other day has really got me feeling that pressure vibe. Will just have to see what funds are like after garden party madness this sunday though.

Yes, yes I am. You know this already Jim. Well up for it - only seen Danny Howells doing a "Dig Deeper" set at the Paradise Factory and wasn't very excited by the bit I heard, but he's meant to be great... This Sheridan fella is meant to be OK too Wink, and Funk D'void was really good at Global a few years ago (he still played more minimal back then, mind), and his productions, particularly the Francois Dubois stuff, are awesome, so well up for that.

I was listening to some Funk D'void and James Talk stuff on their Soundcloud pages, and both had some wicked stuff - http://soundcloud.com/funkdvoid and http://soundcloud.com/james-talk

So yes, think it'll be good, as long as it's busy enough (£16 seems quite steep for the weekend after bank hols, but hopefully the strength of the line up and brand (I assume Lost Disco Project is some well known Ibiza thing?) will do the trick). Hopefully get to meet some of you folk too Smile

Excellant stuff Thomas, you've not been to Kerbcrawler yet either have you.

anyway here's a link to the kerbcrawler website that has a map. http://www.kerbcrawler.net/map.htm
Its basically a straight road out of town passed that big new building (bridgewater place) going towards holbeck. Its an old Mot centre/tyre fitting garage thats been converted into a nightclub.
