Some schools of thought that I just made up posit that the average human brain may sometimes vote conservative, spend the rent on crack or bum a tramp... some of us however can achieve works of great worth and beauty... and can also spot a feeble attempt to start a 'discussion' in order to start a 'debate' about neuroscience and after a carefully but nevertheless totally obvious period of time steer, direct or "gobshite" the discussion quite naturally into the wonderful breakthroughs hand held games devices have made in the totally unscientific areas of what some schools of neuroscience term "Brain Training" and some call "Shit-Boring-Puzzles-For-Nitwits-With-Too-Much-Time-On-Their-Hands".
I hope it's a computer totally failing to manipulate us for money. If it's a person they must feel like a proper cunt. I mean a computer can't feel busted, worthless, mercenary, angry and so dense it curves light can it?

    Probably an advertising bot eh?

By the way the short answer to all that is "no".

Hang on... your thought provoking overture has made me reconsider. I was too hasty.

Perhaps there is some way of training our minds? Call me CRAZY I'm just kicking around a maverick idea a bit.

    But...

After all hasn't neuroscience... the medical world's version of dowsing it is so inaccurate and incomplete as a discipline... hasn't it proven the connection, the boggling leap of genius, that if you USE your BRAIN it gets CLEVERER??? I am sure I read about that breakthrough in the Lancet in the early 1970s.

I've got it! a hand held device that forces you to think AND have fun? Can such a device be conceived in our lifetime with our limited imaginations and technology? I know, I know... easy with the whiz kid shit brainiac. This is the real world not some loony "sci-fi" comic book! aha. aha ha.

Great leaping Jesuses in jumpsuits! The inventor of such a futuristic marvel would surely become a millionaire and have statues erected! ticker-tape parades! busty starlets on BOTH arms...

    Eureka!

Get your chisels out! Commission the sculptures! I've only gone and developed a working prototype.

    Ta daaaa :

I need a snappy name though. "portable neuron stimulator model 0001" is not very snappy. But hey! I'm a soon-to-be-lauded eccentric multimillionaire inventor, not a wacky marketing guy!

Sheesh. Do I have to think of everything?

There's always time for a glacial flow of sarcasm mate. Sometimes it's not fun, it's all about civic duty and setting an example to the children.

    Well

    I'm 41 years old and a journalist.

In my professional opinion that was so sarcastic it should be handled very cautiously into a lead box, sunk in the sea and added to the Geneva convention.

The impressive bit is he made the connection between this one and the one that popped up trying to promote the Nintendo Brain training thing.

I would not have sussed but it is clear now.
