It's yet another ridiculous but true moment but that drummer is Andy Gangadeen... and I played in a band with him for a while in London many years ago.

He speaks that Indian tonal language of their formal percussion and hearing him and his roadie exchange back and forth with it is amazing.

Quite a few of the band went on to great things. Charlie Casey, our singer/songwriter and guitarist went on to work with Neneh Cherry and is one half of Akasha on Wall of Sound. Our Sax player was the band leader for Gary Glitter for years Shocked

Jon Tonks is now a top session bassist and did things like Tricky and other trip hop stuff.

    Small world.

They don't record mate. See'em live if you can. I first saw them at Technique at the Warehouse and was stunned. Seen them quite a few times since.

it's quite clever wheeze. You can try youtube the sound quality is always terrible but there is loads of interviews with them telling us over and over and over again what they do.. but no music.

They are defo the premier live dance act IMO.

Bring me the monkey grinder not the organist!

The Bays rule jazzy improv live techno.

But that doesn't sound very good does it?

You lot don't take anything seriously do you?

    The Bays are incredible.

Tell you what. I would love to know how you are going to approach this
    proper
    live thing.

I've been thinking about it. The reason (or IMO) The Bays "improvise" (they don't BTW) is that to qualify as "fully live" they can't reproduce from the studio to live cos in my experience it's too difficult. For example you'd have to change all the drum sounds nearly every track, in fact re-load every instrument unless you were going to radically change everything.

So you'll be playing your releases live, but different? How?

I'm honestly all ears about this it interests me and I for one think you old farts should at least talk ONCE about music on here Very Happy

    honestly?

I am still working on it.

    Shocked

it's not easy. But you can, for example, press a foot pedal and all the pre-sets on the drum kit brain change immediately. You could do that many years ago I am just getting up to date with the latest tech.

I can tell you what we have so far.

We have 2 session chaps. One will play upright electric double Bass (Midi) and a sax player (loop pedals and a boatload of FX) both of whom also play several other instruments. I will play Piano and Keys and a MIDI drumkit. Our studio whizz Mr West will play keys and loop them. Between the 4 of us we have more than enough to cover it... we are just working through who plays what and when. For example the Bass guy can play strings on his Bass as well. The Sax guy is really good at mimicking synthy sounds too.

What bothers me is if you loop stuff people think it's not 100% "live". But I think I'll just explain it to the crowd before we start with a nice chat and a series of very clear diagrams.
